Meditation: God is Faithful
Sometimes we feel that God asks for things that are too difficult for
us to do. It is because we rely on our own strength, ability and/or experience.
When it comes to doing God's will we can be confident that God is faithful and,
through the Holy Spirit living in us, he will give us the spiritual energy to
accomplish his's will. We are called not to doubt God's faithfulness but to put
all our trust in him.
When we lack confidence in God in one area, we may experience doubt in
other areas. If we don't pay attention, we may begin to doubt his goodness or
compassion.
We may feel that our faith is not enough. Let us remember that God
never asks us to believe only when things are good or when we feel powerful.
God wants us to believe that he is God in good and bad times, when it is easy
and when it is difficult.
We may feel tempted to doubt God more when we only look at the challenges
in front of us. But if we focus our attention on Jesus Christ and believe that
God is faithful, then we will be empowered to do his will. The more we depend
on God, the more we will be strengthened by him no matter what the
circumstances.
This business of faith is like lifting weights. The more you work out,
the stronger you become. When we trust God in the moments of adversity our
faith will develop and our reliance on his love will become part of who we are and
give us strength for future challenges.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 (NRSV)
Rejoice
always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise
the words of prophets, but test everything; hold fast to what is good; abstain
from every form of evil.
May the
God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and
body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The
one who calls you is faithful, and he will do this.
